I have been invited out to a property which has good amounts of Carp in the river, now carp fishing isn't popular over here like it is in the UK, so there is not much info.
What is the best bait and setup to use.
Many thanks
Australia!!!That changes everything, try normal float or ledger fishing, baits sweetcorn, worms, cheese, maggots, bread.Bolt rigs are a method for catching shy, overfished,British and European carp,it's basically a method where a carp takes a bait"hair"rigged to a hook,on a short hooklength attached to a semi-fixed lead, hooks itself-bolts and tightens up the line which sets off an electric bite indicator which in turn, alerts the angler,in other words, costly and complicated. If however this interests you go on any of the numerous"carp forums"for more info,if you like I'll try and post a photo of a"bolt rig"?
i use just a floating crust on a size4 hook, works a treat! especially if kids feed bread to the ducks there!
chuck a few bits in first to getthem going.ime asuming theyre king carp species? what are they? _________________
We catch them over here on Sweetcorn,catmeat,bread,prawns,worms,maggots,potatoes(par-cooked),boilies,luncheon meat. This could go on forever!
Theu're greedy, so take an aray of baits and you'd probably catch on all of them but don't forget, if you use samll baits you're bound to get pestered by small fish...ie..maggots or worms or even bread unless you put a nice sized piece on.
