Wow you really know your fishes !!! it is know as a choa praya .. If i am not wrong Pla Buk is another name for it ... It was not from bungsamran / Thailand ... Was caught from a catch and release pond in singapore ... Gave a great work out ... !!!!!!
Chao phraya is the river bangkok is on,yeah mate,fished Thailand LOTS of times,my nephew was there last week,up north near Chiang mai,he was fishing for cats in his grandfathers stock-lake.
My Biggest Pla-buk(thai for mekong catfish was 70+ lbs,my biceps and pecs stiffened up the next day).I was born in Singapore mate,my dad was based there in the navy,though we left when I was 2 I think?I was in Asia last month

Back in England at the moment mate,my kids were born in Hong Kong,I used to do quite a bit of fishing in the new territories,carp mainly but that was always ruined by the amount of turtles in the water
If you get the chance pop over to thailand,best freshwater fishing I ever did
