Well Well Well,

As piking is the closest fishing to my heart and has been for nearly forty years I have to say it is one of the best articles I have read for both entertainment and content, I take my hat off to you for taking the time to write and share this experience with everyone.

I have written quite a few articles for Pikelines (PAC Magazine) years ago when I was the regional organiser in Manchester and I must say your story would be worthy of any fishing magazine, it is also inspirational to try the old methods

Very well done you have my vote for article of the month

Regards  Frankie

Many thanks for the kind words regarding my post. It was a great way to spend 3 hours in the evening after a busy day. the way the old tackle felt whilst playing the fish was far better and with more of a feeling of being in touch with the fish than on any of my modern gear.

Next fish to try and catch on it will be a carp, if i have any luck i will let you know

Fantastic read and what a lovely conditioned pike.

I'm going to car boots from now on, hopefully I'll find a set up like yours.
