O.K. lads, I was given a couple of these recently, in the Middle East. It was explained to me what they are and how they work; any guesses ??

Looks like the same sort of thing they use in western china for catching birds of prey Charts,saw something similar for sale in Kashgar market.Ties onto the back of a pigeon....................

Almost exactly right mate !!! The pigeons wings go through the frame and the strings are to attach it to a peg in the ground. The falcon strikes the prey and gets it's feet caught up in all those little snares !! I had a feeling you might know what it was !!!!!!!

Yeah,the uigurs design is slightly different,the ones I saw had a brace for the pigeon,but the multitude of snares are EXACTLY the same,they catch migrating falcons..................

Yeah, I was given two of them, along with a lot of Falconry accessories, hoods, gloves, jesses, etc.
