I was out for our morning walk, with Shep, he is only 11 weeks old on sunday, his breeding is 3/4 greyhound x1/4 beardie collie, at this age he is full of character, and stands at 15" we go for a walk around Hoddom Castle, beautiful grounds, woodlands, and the river ANNAN,I allow him to run free, and be himself, scenting and smelling, all foriegn, materials, as we are going around the castle,I hear a pair of Mallard ducks, on this onamental, pond I wander over to have closer look, this pond has a wall running, around the outside of the perimeter, it stands about 20" high, and in the centre there is a rockery made up of natural rock and earth, I am looking to see if the mallards are trying to build a nest, the next thing I see the Pup take a run and a flying Jump, over the wall and into this pond stinking water and all from ground level to the water is about 3 feet, I was amazed, at his spectacular, jump, clean as a whistle, down into this stinking stagnent, water, I bend over and pull him out, you can imagine the stench of him, in one sense, I am so pleased at his bravery, and on the other, hand I look at what could have happened, IF I had not been there at that precise moment, ((( I believe in my pups coming along in a natural way, they learn a lot faster, and with no stress,)) I make for the car as quick as we can the car is a good mile away, we get there double quick as he is flying around trying to keep warm, into the car and home, his first shower, a good job I had some dog shampoo on hand, wash and dry, and after all that, excitement, we were out for our wee walk again this morning, (((( but NOT AROUND THE POND,))))
very good to hear your pups coming on ive got a sulikixgrey x suliki grey pup here of the same age there excited all the time and always pissing my older dogs off but jumping all over them lol but hey its all for the learning haha
thank you H. B. Yes it is all the fun and heart ache of rearing a pup, I wish your PUP, well, he should be able to give those blacktips, what for when he is about 16 month (((( I have never had a saluki x, my mate swears by them if you have the right strain,))) I have always had the collie x and now I just need a good handy type, and companion, ((( but who knows if he gets up and is able to do his job, I might just come down and have a run with you,for a bit of a laugh and remenisce about all the good dogs, thank you and Happy Hunting,
I never bought him a lad bred them, he kept two back a dog and a bitch and I got the dog he came from Spennymoor, co durham, a farmers son,
