Hi All,
All that target practice is now paying off ! Shot this rabbit at 20yds with headshot - he rolled over dead as a doorknob. Catty is Saunders Hawk, shot was half inch lead ball ( cast at home ). The catty is twin flatband - speeded up by shortening the bands, it is one accurate tool ( with practice ! ) So last nights dinner - stir fry rabbit.
Did you get your catty from the States or did you get it over here? Nice shot BTW. _________________ How is the bow better than the gun? Ask General Custer!
Thanks for the replies - it is great when it comes together, the air rifle,.22lr and shotgun all seem very easy compared to the art of catty hunting. The catty came from the USA cost about £9 but about £20 to get over !!! I struggled to get decent accuracy with me old Black Widow ( tubes ) and my home made forks with square tube were about the same, but flatband catties seem to be very fast and accurate, I'm going to get a Fish Hunter catty in the next month or two ( coincide with the pheasants ) then we'll see some action !!
Cheers Strider
Same as mate got the rifles and shotty but when it comes to walking the dog or having a mooch the catty is a bit more discreet and a lot more satisfying when you hit something with it.
I like the sound of impact just as much hitting it. well done on your rabbit.
Hi GTAvares - the flatbands are powerful and easily capable of depatching small game , first pic is of a half inch lead ball that whacked a brick ( knocked it over ), second pic is of a Heinz bean can, the ball went thru one side and out the other !
