Get a good mongrel from the rescue centre they need good homes and you can get a decent all rounder if you choose carefully.

Spot on mr punch,

the best allround dog ive ever seen and easily the most intellegent was from the pound,he belonged to a mate and was a whippet x lab we think.

Not that im recommending the whippet x lab to you jermaine, dogs like him are one offs ussually,he never produced anything of much use himself,it also takes a lot of work to "make" any dog.

If you said what you intended to use the dog for it would narrow the choice down a bit?

For a good trustworthy family dog go for the Lab, Collie or alsation the others are too tempremental and it does depend on the age of your kids.

I was only being sarcastic mate

My only concern with your list is the Ridgeback, my neigbour of past had one and it was a nasty bugger to say the least. I was also bitten by a customers Ridgeback several years back so I'm not keen on them at all.
Also don't forget the humble mutt, mine is a Staffy cross Lurcher, he's super intelligent and has a heart of gold, he's no idea what aggression is.
I’ll post a picture of him once I work out how too.

On the Rottweiler front don't let bad press put you off as I used to own one and he was great noisy at the door then lick um to death he was great with me kids but was clumsy and used to knock um over but he loved um, not sure on the other breeds as I have no experience. Charl.

Unless you have experiance with guard breeds rotty/doberman ect its not a good idea, especially if you intend to get a dog.

Again i would agree with mr punch, collie, lab or Alsation, all the dogs on your list have hereditary faults, hips, eyes, ect make sure the parents have been tested or it could be expensive.

Personally if i had to choose from that list it would be a Lab.

The lab seems to be the best family.
