You can't hunt with an air gun in France and their limit is nearer to 8 ft lbs. But if no-one knows, there's no problem.

My brother in law used to be a bailiff on a lake in France.stayed once as he had a family week on the lake,he had a crappy air rifle just for that but it was easier for him to get a 22 rimfire than it was the air rifle.
The rats were that bad when you reeled in you sometimes had a rat on
Tell him to buy a catty,no problems then if he gets caught by customs on the way back in...

He might fancy a go at that , I would'nt mind myself, never tried one but I'm not a bad shot with a catapult so might be able to get the hang of it.

I used to be a member of a fishing forum, some of the blokes on there told stories about French coppers coming at them with pistols drawn when they were fishing at night,i think if you had a gun you could be in deep sh*t,i wouldn't risk taking one.

Yeah, when I was out there hunting at night was strictly verboten.  However, any other form of destruction seemed legal.  Funny old place, France, but generally more sensible and practical than here.  And at the risk of having World War 3 launched against me..........I like the people!!

Itold him what everyone has said , he said thanks he'l leave the gun behind ,he's going for the fishing mostly anyway , it was just a thought taking the gun , he's taking the catapult and maybe stick a few snares out.
