Has anyone ever heard abouth luring pheasants with anise?

i think i read something about it in the book 'the amateur poacher' by richard jeffries.

i have heard people say you need to hold on to you're hat when youtake you're anise out, because of all the pehasants flying arround you.... And roe deer seem to like it to .

I did read about it somewhere, but cannot remember now, see if I can find it.

i dont know if you mean anaseed,anaseed flavouring is mixed in with pheasant food to stop them from wandering of your shoot.

AS far as I know you have to start feeding it to the as poults to get them hooked, it doesn't work that well if you start trying it on adult birds.

Reminds me of a way of catching pheasants I read about. Soak raisins in brandy and leave them for the pheasants. Apparantly they get drunk and you can get them then...dunno if its true.

raisins in rum or voddy! it does work ,i have tried it at a feeding station near here ,go1 pheasant ,ide rather eatem meself and shoot some birds!
