Book review - Longnetting, peg to peg by Martin KingI've done a bit of longnetting in the past, and always seemed to get into a mess with traditional set nets.
In desperation, I bought myself a quickset net about 15 years ago, and while it's a cracking bit of kit for ferreting, I always found the basket awkward to carry and cumbersome to use.
I went back to short traditional longnets for daytime work, but longed to be able to use them properly at night.
The along comes Martin King with his new book.
I've read a few books on the subject of rabbit control, including the now famous book by Wyman, and the awful book by Jon Hutcherton. This new book is by far the best work I've ever read on the subject.
Martin explains in a clear and concise fashion how to rig nets, run them out and pick them up with the aid of some good quality pictures.
I would add that I think this will become a modern classic, and is a must read for anyone with an interest in rabbit control.
The book is available from Fourteenacre, http://www.fourteenacre.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index_files/Shop.htm.
