cod fishingwell i got a phone call of me mate if i wanted to have a go at the cod, so early this morning away we went
leaving southwold harbour
first fish of the day
my mate was soon in to fish as well
the fish box starts to fill up
a few more soon come aboard
the gulls have a feast at gutting time
ended up 31 cod 2 whiting biggest cod 5 and a half pound.

That's pretty nice, I'm planning to go after the cod with longlines soon to see if I can make a bit of money, what baits were you using? Hook sizes? Traces?

we were uptiding in 20feet of water about 2 miles of shore, all we use for bait is squid on no 6/o hook we use the same rig for bass and cod all year round, i find lugworm seems to attract the little cod its been fishing really good on the beach and boat this spring as the local fleets have reached there cod quotas and theres more fish for the rod and line brigade, i was told eels are all ready being caught in southwold river so might give it a go soon. i get all my squid which is in 14ib boxs from the fish market its far better than what you get from th supermarkets and fishmonger shops.
