Wow you really know your fishes !!! it is know as a choa praya .. If i am not wrong Pla Buk is another name for it ... It was not from bungsamran / Thailand ... Was caught from a catch and release pond in singapore ... Gave a great work out ... !!!!!!

Chao phraya is the river bangkok is on,yeah mate,fished Thailand LOTS of times,my nephew was there last week,up north near Chiang mai,he was fishing for cats in his grandfathers stock-lake.
My Biggest Pla-buk(thai for mekong catfish was 70+ lbs,my biceps and pecs stiffened up the next day).I was born in Singapore mate,my dad was based there in the navy,though we left when I was 2 I think?I was in Asia last month
The biggest pla buk I ever heard of was 600 lbs +

The one which i am carrying weight in at 23kg ... The smaller one was about 2kg ... Really nice fight on light tackle !!!! Jo

Back in England at the moment mate,my kids were born in Hong Kong,I used to do quite a bit of fishing in the new territories,carp mainly but that was always ruined by the amount of turtles in the water 
If you get the chance pop over to thailand,best freshwater fishing I ever did

I have shot a few of the neighbours cats,and I do remember a few pussies in Singapore,I used to always find them in Lucky Plaza on a sunday

I have some hard-copy ones somewhere mate  If I find them I will bung them up.How much is that lake to fish in Singapore?Bung sam has increased its prices hasnt it?Quite a few IGFA records have been broken there,and a few world records,I think its about £12-£15 a day now,whereas when I first went it was £5 including rod hire and bait.

It is about 30 sing Bucks tp fish there for a 12 hours ... But the bites are not as good as BsL ... Jo

Maybe mate,Bung sam was literally a bite a cast,it was non-stop,my wife got bored in the end,its a novelty at first catching a 20-30 lb'er a cast,but when you've had 15 in a row under the hot Thai sun you become kind of blase about the whole thing If you ever do get the chance to visit bangkok certainly visit Bung Sam,but get a taxi there and hire their rods,or take your own,dont go with any of the western fishing guides like Jean Francoise Helias who are charging over £100 a day to "Guide" you,you dont need guiding on that water,the fish are suicidal,they WANT to be caught

I still remember bits and pieces,not as good as one of my kids though,both are tri-lingual,and ones currently learning Korean Wifes tri-lingual as well I am learning english,she said I am too slang And every second word reminds her of Gordon Ramsey,the F*** WORD

Another good trip Joe,I can almost feel the heat from here.Is that Taman Jurong?
I have been Chatting regularly to two guys,one from Sabah,one from Sarawak,both are bowhunters,one has even taken Sun Bear,they go off into the hinterlands for a week at a time,both know some pretty amazing fishing spots,I miss Asia a lot

Yea it was real hot yesterday ... No it is not taman jurong but a pond in pasir ris . I have been to Taman jurong too but i prefer this pond for obvious reasons .. Ha ha !!!! lost a couple of big ones ... Wow! I would love to try it out .. Wonder what fishes they have other there ... Jo
