fly equipment

I recently tryed a mates fly rod and got hooked on it.  So i would like to buy my own rod, reel ect but being a beginer i dont know whats good or not.  I am after a good, cheap, beginers rod that would be good for river/ small lochs and trout.

Also what would i need to get in the way of flys and line

thanks killer

Well killer, where do you start is the question. You said a rod for river , lough, etc, the thing is if tis a narrow river you would need a different rod than one you would use on a lough. So lets say its a good wide river. For a good all rounder rod i would suggest going for a 10ft mid to tip, mid to tip is the action off the rod, tip has a stiff top action, so mid to tip would suit you for a beginner.Check out this ebay site below for all your needs, i purchased a few rods from here as spare rods and was impressed with the quality i recieved and for exellent value, look at the "spring creek" rods, very very good, i was  suprised at the action off these rods and their all round action beats any other rods within the same price range, even better i think. There are 4different lines, floating wieght, forward, floating double tapered, intermediate and sinking, would be looking at the floating lines. As described the weight forward will give you more length on the cast when you get the hang of it, double tapered presents the fly a lot easier so this is the 1 i would suggest, as oyu progress then you can purchase more lines like the intermediate and the sinking
so..
1. 10ft rod to suit 7/8 weight line
2. line 7 weight double tapered
3. reel to suit 7/8 weight lline.
4. get yourself some braided leaders, they go on the end off your fly line so you can attach length off flueorcarbon line. Remember its all what you can afford, start off cheap, but remember, uou get what you pay for, the link below will def give you excellent value. Tight liines.
