Goose. This will be the third year running I have promised the family a fresh Goose for Christmas dinner. I have blanked in spectacular fashion the last two years.
Determined to bag one this year, so I am considering purchasing a call to see if that will get me a result.
Anyone know one that actually works?

heres a method i have 'heard of'.get a fishing pole, longer the better,at near dark go to a still water where they can be found.attach a rabbit snare to a piece of parra cord, then with one turn of masking tape attach the snare to the end of the pole, holding tightly to the end of the para cord carefully slip the noose over the gooses neck and pull tightly then draw in fast and dispatch. ;)

Bass-pro and Cabelas are my idea of a wet dream mate,if ever you win the lottery take the whole lot and have a PROPER shopping trip ;)
You walk into a dedicated archery or gun store over there and your like a kid in a candy store

One serious shop.
Seen a nice pair of boots on there, $89, what does that equate to in sterling?

Only problem with getting stuff shipped over is you might get stung for VAT,and delivery time is normally 2-4 weeks.

Same boots are £109 at the shoot warehouse.
That is some saving. Might have to wake the old credit card up!
Strange that we have nothing like that here in the Uk. Everything is mail order here. There are no shops you can just walk in to.

Rip-off britain!I got a couple of excellent realtree sweat-tops,the LATEST pattern in thailand for £4.50 with a catapult thrown in.
Just get a relative over in the states to buy them and send them over, but like I said,I have been stung a few times on VAT when customs have inspected the parcels.

There's plenty geese in the fields around me at the monet, but does anyone have methods to catch them without a gun? Catapult seems pretty hit and miss, maybe a net?

Used flight nets for Teal and Mallard, but it was in a wildfowl reserve with massive amounts of migrating wildfowl,Kenzie Thorpe used to the the same type of nets for geese, but not in fields though, the RSPB use Rocket-propelled clap-nets for geese.

Hm. I might just have a go at a rocket propelled net launcher.

I know where theres two villages in Pakistans tribal area(NWFP) where an RPG-7 can be picked up for a song(if you can sing in pushto)

Slight problem getting it back though, weapons smuggling is frowned upon. I'd imagine 3 rockets, spread so towing a net then launched vertically into a flock of flying geese, would take down a few. Alternatively I could make some up with a head full of shot and blackpowder, and shoot in the same way.
