Grandads Stout and TroutGrandad was a fine fellow. Wore belt and braces and was deaf from the first war. Every summer holiday, which was hot, sunny and went on forever, he'd take us fishing. Us kids would muck about and catch minnows and stickle backs to put in jamjars. Grandad, he'd patiently fish. Watching us and the stream in equal measure. Before long he'd have caught lunch:
Fresh Trout cleaned and dressed as usual.
Four bottles of good quality Stout.
Homemade pickle. Such as Piccalily.
Grans crusty bread, buttered.
Crumbly cheese.
Fruit from the garden or gathered wild.
We'd build a small fire gaurded by rocks from the stream but I guess you could use an oven or pan fry the trout. However the scent of the woodfire in the hot trout meat is part of the experience. Cook the trout til done.
Assemble the other ingriedents and serve.
Eat with fingers with much lip smacking and squabbling over the best bits.
When all done, send the kids to the stream to wash up.
Then off to play.
And the Stout, well Grandad'd sup that while we ran and screamed and splashed.

he sound's like a good ol boy... you cant beat a fresh trout , i prefer the handline me nothing on display and it get's the job done,, p.s if you try it use a baby trebble hook and a pair of spring loaded needle-nosed-pliar's to remove hook from fish,,,, and to everyone who say's they taste earthy bdooly REMOVE THE BACK VAIN YA DAFTY'S....LOL
