You fecker!  I would be very proud to shake your hand, mate.  It is so good to see people propagating these thoughts to our juniors.  My other half deployed to the Gulf today (and before anyone starts, she's female - yep the girls can do blokes jobs!). I've done my time and am possibly about to sign-up again.

Feck'n hell, you git, I'm almost snivelling.

From over here in the US, I was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Harry Patch.  Even our WWII and Vietnam vets are growing older by the day.....while I was off the boat the last time I was privileged to meet a survivor of the Bataan Death March (the second I've gotten to meet) and to know that with the barest of handfulls that entire generation from the Great War are all gone.  All I can say is I hope there was a good formation standing at attention for him when he reached the Pearly Gates or wherever it is you go when you drag up.
FYI, I knew a very old man who just passed last year who remembered in his very early childhood old men sitting around the wood stove at the country store, most missing limbs, and talking about Chickamauga (War of Northern Aggression, 1861-1865).

RIP Harry,at least Harry got to live a long and hopefully enjoyable life thousands didn't,my great grandad left half an arse cheek at the Somme,he lived to old age and eventually lost his leg due to bad circulation.I cant imagine living in mud filled trenches and having to charge into a blizzard of machine gun fire, and for what?
For our government to give our country away and discrace the memory of all our fallen heroe's imo.

Although I was born 12 years after the end of WW2 , I have the deepest respect for all those British, American , Polish, French, Russian and so on service men & women, who gave their life , so that I can live free. And there are still service men & women  giving their best to safeguard our values and liberties to this day in Irak & Afghanistan

Fish , will you honour all those men & women by burning a candle on my behalf when you visit the chapel again.  Through the candle for Harry I honour all those who fought and fight for our way of life.

Greatest respect,

Rb
