There are so many species of wild mushrooms that are edible and so few of the poisonous ones,it's a pity they are under-exploited in England, they just rot where they are, certainly doesn't happen here,I've seen people searching with lamps, before daybreak, but then the better known varieties (cepes) have a high market value,I know of one bloke who's holidays coincide with the "high" season for mushrooms,he searches from dawn till dusk, loves what he's doing and makes a hefty profit in the process

i love mushrooms but it is very hard to find anyone who is willing to teach you what to look for. it is the same with a lot of things here in england, when in france i always have some razor clams as you cant get them here unless you go and catch them yourself. in fact some of my mates think i am very odd eating them but hey thier loss.
fish

very true the french are closer to their wildfood roots.
