last years big game form USAhere are my Mule deer from last year and my cow Elk, I figured that's something you don't get to see every day. my brother is off on this years Elk hunt (i didn't draw a tag this year. our tags are given out in a lottery system, in case you where wondering) I'm hoping to go at the end of the week, and i will post picks if i go. also I shot my deer with a Remington model 7 in 300 WSM at @ 200 yards that me and my dad chambered that morning! (he is a gunsmith) and my elk was shot with a Remington model 700 in 30-06 shot at @ 350 yards (which is a little farther than I would normaly like to shoot but i had a huge rock to rest on for a good steady shot.

blimey thats huge!! do you eat it all ? i guess venison jerky is big in yer house!
we too have a hunting lottery here ,what we do is go out and see if we can manage to not get caught!

Yep. excelent piece off shooting, but i wouldnt fancy carrying everything back to the vehicle.

last year was a good year for meat in my house, I am mostly finished with the deer but I still have lots of Elk left, on good years like that I don't buy to much meat from the store, and yes I do make lots of jerky out of the stuff thats too tough or sinewy for steaks
and this year I drew archery tags for mule deer and antelope but I didn't bag anything in the allotted time, (tag soup for me) but luckily I purchased a buffalo tag from a local ranch (66,000 acres) of land and one buff for me. If I get one of those i really will not be meat poor by next year.
yes it is nice to have a gunsmith for a father (it saves me a lot of money) I'm a huge gun nut, so far this year I've bought, sold or swapped 12 guns since this time last year. i think I'm putting my wife in the funny farm!
as far as packing the game back to the rig, i have a 4 wheeler i use to haul them, and with the Elk we where lucky enough to have shot them close to a trail we could drive down, so we only had to drag it about a 100 yards, my elk weighed in at 225 Ibs without guts and my fathers was 275! his was rough, but luckily his was even closer to the road and we had 3 people to help drag.

I have never actually found an arrow head (which are now illegal to pick up in nevada) but I have found lots of areas with worked obsidian (chips and such) which at some point must have been an indian camp because we dont have any natural obsidian close by, so it must have been brought in by the indians. One spot is at a hunting hole i have that has a small knoll with a natural spring at the bottom. the top of the knoll is totally covered in obsidian chips. Im sure if an actual anthropologist poked around up there they would find dozens of artifacts, but Ive never seen anything.
Ive also found lots of spots where indians have set up stone deadfall traps, of course Im no archeologist so I dont know for sure, but i do know what a deadfall trap looks like

there is an organisation that operates in the south african bush that runs week long hunting trips for anyone with enough money to hunt some serious ''big game''....next month me and my wife and kids and a couple of my friends families are head there on a hunting trip!..they say it isnt suitable for kids due to the graphic nature of the killings and the fact that it is illegal makes it unsafe!.....but i didnt raise nt faggit kids thats for sure so were going and were going to enjoy ourselves!!!

good for you tom, all kids should learn how meat gets to the table, some people havent a clue what happens between a animal being slaughted to then end up packaged nice and neat on a supermarket shelf, all the best with your hunting trip.

that is my reasoning behind bringing the kids....they should know where their dinner comes from even if it isnt that pretty!.....iv already shown my eldest boy how to track and kill badgers with nothing more than a pair of pitbulls!...where i live there is an overpopulation of foxes and badgers so i spend alot of my time in the winter months slaughtering countless numbers of the disease infested vermin! any1 have any information on better hunting techniques!?? it would be greatly appretiated!

Ive heard of lads up in conemara digging them out with mini diggers. otherwise let the tarriers in the hole to drive them out. once you have permission from the authoritys. I hear they cant even hunt fox over in england anymore. can you believe that sh1t. If that happened in ireland there would be fcukn carnage.
