Tidal_wear

Always had deerhound crosses or saluki crosses in the past, got a first cross beddie at the moment, undecided about the future otherwise I would have a deerhound cross as well out of platts or doxhope..................
juckler

Cheers for sharing pics
I really like beddy crosses and think the standard is a lot better now than it was  years back one of the best all round animals i had the pleasure of knowing was a threequater greyhound bed enough of a dog for any man.
Bernie how long ago did you have the saluki crosses mate ?
Ive done most aspects of lurcher work but am more into mouching nowadays
had my fill of rushing round getting as much in the bag or over the shoulders as possible.
when i go out now which is daily its just for the pot as its just not profitable anymore with price of petrol etc.
fish

lovely dogs! at some point ime hoping to find a suitable pup.

Heres my wee bitch Delta, she's only 1/4 Bedlington, (Beddy/Grey X Deer/Grey-Whippet/Grey), but has all the Beddy attributes; heart, gameness, stamina. Shes under 23", but has taken deer, fox, blacktip rabbit, rabbit and pheasnt, day and night. And she's not a bad show dog either; Reserve Scottish Champion of Champions.

Cheers.
Tidal_wear

I always liked the look of your bitch charts, she looks usefull.Your in the right area, you ever see any of doxhope crosses up there?I would LOVE one down here.
chartpolski

I was hoping to have a craic with him at the Alwinton show, but didn't see him. I heard he doesn't do the crosses now, but there are still some around the Ashington area. I do a lot up that area and haven't seen anyone about with his type of dogs out doing a bit. There is a lad in Sunderland supposed to be breeding pure Deerhound workers, but he exports them to the States and Oz .I would like to get a 1/2 or 3/4 X out of genuine workers, as I'm getting more and more back into the bigger stuff. Stll enjoy the lamping though !!!
Cheers.
Tidal_wear

I will find out the name of the guy from sunderland, make a few phone calls tonight,I bought my deerhound cross from a guy in Gateshead, but that was 20+ years ago, mainly in this area its bigger stuff,if I knew I was here permanant I would have to have one. 3/4 for me I think, bitch, though the one I used to have was a dog.

Hello CP good to see you on here mate and to see  Delta shes a proper looker  i can see why she took reserve
chartpolski

She had Reserve Champion at Selkirk the same day. In all she had six Reserve Championships last year. I think the small dogs are often overlooked in the finals in favour of the big dogs.

Scottish Champion of Champion & Reserve Champion;

Selkirk Champion & Reserve Champion;

Cheers.

Excellent pics mate know what you mean on the size issue it would be a different outcome if it were down to work.
I judged a lot of the early shows and funnily enough it was bitches like your Delta that we favoured in the midlands.
Mind we caused a stir at one show in Barnsley by picking a white saluki cross but it was a picture of a dog and came to the show straight from work.
Not been to a show in years CP but they are definitely worth entering six reserves in a year is some going mate id be as proud as punch with a result like that well done to you and Delta
JOE_H

Some very nice lurchers lads. Would love to see some pictures of the deerhound crosses, thats what i intend to get as soon as i can find a litter. I would post a picture but i dont have any decent ones, im having the worst season ive ever had. Constant injury after injury, waiting for a stopper to heal now, happened on the dogs first night back lamping after another injury.
Tidal_wear

Theres my old deerhound cross,VERY good fox dog,we had 70+ fox one winter but his forte was bigger things.......................

Spectacular photos CP. Anything she can't do ?
chartpolski

She's done everything I've asked of her up to now, Gin. I'm lamping with her tomorrow and beating with her on saturday, she hasn't let me down yet !!!
Cheers.
Gin

I'm sure you will have a great time CP,- I hope to be off at the weekend and plan to give Gunner a good "blast" on the fields. Some parts are not too water-logged and should be ok for him.

Theres no Fallow up our way, and anyway, I think she would be a bit small for them. As for day time black tip rabbit, I deliberatly gave her a go on them to see how she would do, she's only ran four and caught two. I think daytime blacktip rabbit coursing is the best sport you can have, so she will be getting some more runs !!!
Cheers.
juckler

Them and Roe are the buisness if you want excitment theres no Roe near me mate so ive only run a couple just like springbocks arent they.
Most fallow ive ever taken with one dog was with a little bitch 23 1/2 its
She had the knack mind they were mostly yearling bucks and does them stags are like reds unstoppable could easily drag a dog to its death.

juckler

Got to agree with that although i like to see a dog find its own blacktip rabbit rather than run them off a slip
Im out for the season my rough dog had a bad collision hit a barbed wire fence laid down in a wood dont know how hes not broke his front leg he will be out till next year now barring pottering about during the summer.
