Myxamatosis and domestic dogs

Friends, unsure if this is a relevant question or the right forum upon which to ask?

My dog keeps picking up myxi rabbits and then devouring parts of them, is it likely to cause problems?  I.E pass on the disease or kill the dog.

Regards, Peter.

I think myxy rabbits are safe for human consumption too. But I think the liver looks a bit suspect when diseased.

In my mispent youth I sold a good many mixie rabbits to the local butchers shop. They wouldn't buy them unless skinned or gutted. As it was extra work for me I thought sod em I'll throw some mixies in too, they never twigged and nobody complained about the  coneys they bought.
I guess karmas a bitch now I have to worry about plauge, tularemia and areno virus in the rabbits I catch and they all could kill me.

In rabbits of the genus Sylvilagus (American cottontail rabbits), myxomatosis only causes localized skin tumors, but the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is more severely affected.
