baumstamm, yep by hand mate! its taken 3 days on and off so far!
death, the alli is 1 inch thick.
yoggerman, the pipe is fab,its a very cheap and nasty one ,ille be upgrading to a decent briar soon!
HB,i could use some half inch plate!
statik, i de like a bandsaw but theres a real sence of achievement from doin stuff the traditional way!

Fish
I did mine on my electric fretsaw but you could go traditional and get an old Hobby treadle one great for cutting scales too.
Do you put a little drop of oil on the blade? it helps with cutting on ally 'n' brass.
I would like to make one with wider forks any chance you could email me a template please!!

Nice pic fish you look like a young jack hargreaves with that pipe stuck in ya gob lol
Im not wanting to hijack the thread but i have to know there seems a lot of folk having trouble with cattys breaking because they are hitting the forks with there ammo i have to ask how are you holding your catty is it in a clenched fist type hold or thumb in the middle or what
cheers stu
|
fish
|
the way to hold the smaller ones is to support the forks with the index finger and thumb. hb has a pic some where.
any how back to my catty, after 5 days cutting,12 fretsaw blades and 1 gallon of zider its cut out now for some trimming with a barsteward file....
