nostalgia

OK let me kick something off here ,
We are all country men at heart and must have got our interests and knowledge passed down
Tell me your stories of trips out with grandad and what he taught you this isn,t aimed at our younger members but the more mature members
Jack hargreaves was the man but your knowledge and fascination with country ways must have been inspired by knowledgable old gentlemen you where aquainted with in your youth ,time I think to spill the beans and tell your tales

My GRANNY! gave me the best advice i think, she used to say " Two eyes, two ears, one mouth? look and listen twice as much as you speak and you'll learn " her other saying was " better to say nothing and let folk think your daft than speak and let them see you are"  she was also a dab hand with a snare ,on the fence for bunny/pheasant or on a stick in the burn for a trout.

grandad used to say if it aint beef, pork or lamb its chicken! that was what was told to the kids back in his day, apparently the game keeper would get chatting to kids and ask them what was theyre favorite dinner and what was for dinner last night, hoping to catch them out when they answered pheasant or venison!

My dad used to take us out when we were kids no real words of wisdom or little witty sayings just the odd clip round the ear if we were not doing things his way.

The only bit of advice he ever gave me was do what you like but don't get caught and sow your wild oats but don't be around for the harvest.
