Finaly the Basingstoke canal is open, and as i live within a stone throw from it i'm off to give it a go tomorow, never fished it before so taking rod and pole, going to try feeder fishing then may move on to boiles later on.
With pole just going for float with sweetcorn or bread.
So if anyone has any tips, i'll be up between pirbright bridge and curzon bridge let me know.
Thanks

Bring a gill net.
Sorry, I'm not much help, my only experience of coarse fishing was set lines in a loch that had perch in it, in a dream. One of the 6 perch we caught was close to scottish record, but we were disappointed as we were after trout.
And good luck.

only tip i can give is a ground bait made from 50/50 digestive crumb and bread crumb with some dark brown sugar in it,use one big ball then little and often, this is a killer for bream and tench.
good luck and dont forget yer camera!
