Otter Boards/laths

Anyone know how to construct one?  I know a lot of circumstances I could use it in but don't know how to build one.  Cheers

I was just reading through the salmon and freshwater fisheries act 1975 (doing an assignment on fisheries legislation) and wondered what an otter lath was i thought an otter board was completely different mind.

theres a realy good one illustrated in the sas survival handbook with a sail etc!

another otter board i saw was a tube with a weighted fin on th bottom the line was attached in such a way that it kited out into the flow of the river when pegged to the bank.

I've seen the one in the sas book.  It's just an unmanned boat, and relies on the wind.

Bait boats are heavy, expensive and I suspect noisy, so not an option.

That otter board with a fin sounds like exactly what I'm after, I'm looking forward to seeing more about it.  Thanks
