Otter Boards/lathsAnyone know how to construct one? I know a lot of circumstances I could use it in but don't know how to build one. Cheers

I was just reading through the salmon and freshwater fisheries act 1975 (doing an assignment on fisheries legislation) and wondered what an otter lath was i thought an otter board was completely different mind.

just found that article by the looks of it getting a carp anglers bait boat may be an idea :)

You'll have to get a lot of fish to pay for a bait boat I think they are about a grand

theres a realy good one illustrated in the sas survival handbook with a sail etc!
another otter board i saw was a tube with a weighted fin on th bottom the line was attached in such a way that it kited out into the flow of the river when pegged to the bank.
ille see if i can find/draw a few later.

I've seen the one in the sas book. It's just an unmanned boat, and relies on the wind.
Bait boats are heavy, expensive and I suspect noisy, so not an option.
That otter board with a fin sounds like exactly what I'm after, I'm looking forward to seeing more about it. Thanks
