The broads used to be the place to go
I do a fair but off the witham in lincs some of the drains are very shallow if you follow them and find deep stretches like where the drains drop a level and theres locks etc the piking is quite fast and furious with 30 plus fish in a session being not unusual.
Ive had pike to thirty pound and seen bigger that wouldnt touch a bait no matter what you were on.
Location is the key every time ive found otherwise its a hit and miss afair best time to spot where theres big pike is next month as they start to spawn ive found a few good places by watching for them spawning.

yes i agree with you its about doing your homework, on some of these big broards its a job to know where to start but the specialist angler have quite a few gismos now depth finders, fish finders etc but you still need your 'hunting skills' to get the best catches.

Looks a great set up you have there Steve
I like to see proper wild fish them record breaking fish out of stocked trout lakes are not for me.
Its good that a lot more are piking in the summer nowdays they fight a lot better in the warm water
