Quintessentially English.............Fishing in the rain.

I have been promising to have a fishing trip with a fellow shed-member(sounds masonic)for a while, time is the enemy as always, but we finally met up last night despite the fact is was raining....HEAVILY
We went to a water I have just obtained permission on and have actually been asked by the riparian owners to clear the 30,000 trout from the lake
JOE_H wanted to beat his personal-best night fishing for trout, and to be perfectly honest he beat that in EXACTLY two minutes
We only fished for a short while as we could see the bailiff/security guard patrolling, and I had forgotten to bring the written permission slip so it might have been difficult to explain our presence, besides,we couldnt carry any more fish as JOE kept spilling his all over the field,HAHAHAHA,sorry Joe,you know I am a f***ing p**s-taker anyway
We got 29 which isnt bad for the time we actually spent on the water, works out at about one every minute?I enjoyed it JOE,good trip, your a funny guy
One thing though,JOE has never seen a hundred fish lined up,so we are going fishing again.......................SOON
mayfly

Fckuen hell guys leave some for us poor fishermen who have to work to catch them, anyways a lovely catch, wish i was their, i bet the addrenalin was PUMPIN...
Tidal_wear

It was funny mayfly,I know JOE enjoyed himself, and I know he is looking forward to the BIG catch
mayfly

No mate,we were cold and wet to be honest, and I couldnt take many pics as the flash would have betrayed our presence to the guy driving around checking the grounds of the fishery,I only took a few pics when his lights disappeared behind the trees, whats the old saying?"Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints"
One thing though,I am glad it was a small place, the water was freezing and I didnt fancy a swim to get the line across
fish

thats one handy contract to have!
Tidal_wear

The next time we go we arent leaving till we have topped  the 100 mark, watch out for the pictures   And I KNOW how much JOE is looking forward to gutting 100+fish
JOE_H

Yes it was a brilliant night and a right laugh. Cant say i enjoyed the gutting in the dark to much, i manged to slice my hand 3 times. Tidal_wear conveniently forgot a knife so decided we'd take turns in gutting them, i think he gutted one then muttered something about not wanting to get his hands dirty      .

Looking forward to going for 100, not looking forward to the gutting

Thanks for a great night, i better go and do something with the bath full of trout i've got. The family are complaining

My wife manicures my nails Joe,thats true actually, can you imagine the trouble I would have gotten in if I returned to the house with a split cuticle or something   Besides, you looked as if you were having fun   I am glad you enjoyed it

50 yard net,30 meshes deep, never checked the mesh size Fishy, but its slightly smaller than the ones I use,to be honest mate it wasnt a serious fishing run,it was just half an hour to test the net out.
Ta steve,it was fun
yoggerman

i rember when the boy's swam out and cut the trout-nets in colbrook lakes a few year's ago,, we had to get a big ol chest freezer for the amount we was gettin,,, if your gonna get a lot make sure u freeze em in individual bags otherwise if theres 10 in a bag its 10 you gotta thaw LOL
Tidal_wear

Funny you should say that Yoggs, when I was 14 or 15 I was netting salmon several times a week,I actually invested some of my cash on a new chest freezer just for the fish

Hope your all ready for this week JOE?Three hundred quid a DAY?Methinks NOT!!! Night tickets are free

JOE_H

funny how they charge so much for a days fly fishing yet night fishing is free. Joe
Tidal_wear

Trout-trammel would be ideal for those chalk-stream trout
JOE_H

We'll test it out once those night fishing permits arrive. Joe
