Its not very often in this day and age you meet a person willing to do you a good turn with no hidden agendas or hidden motives. Something i have noticed over the many years being involved with the fieldsports and pest control as a business, is just how many takers there are out there in this sporting world of ours. Many a time i have spent both time and money on helping a fellow hunter only to have it thrown back in my face or to simply watch them drop me like a stone when i was in need of a favour or a little help. So imagine my shock when through a chance meeting with a JACKS SHED member i was offered the chance to ferret the land on which they shoot as part of a syndicate. This offer of ferreting wasnt just for a day or the odd trip now and again but on a free range basis as and when i wanted. This offer was again pushed home by yesterdays trip out with the lands farm manager. The hand of sporting friendship was offered by the farm manager to the extent of myself now having permission to come and go as i please over the few thousands of acres of land that is part of the farm he looks after.
With the above in mind im sure you can see just how shocked by the generosity of the JACKS SHED member i am. This gesture of sporting friendship is something i have not witnessed in many years and has shown to me that there are still genuine folk out there who dont simply put themselves first.
I havnt named the member as i feel it only fitting to respect his privercy (spelling?) but i would however like to say a big thank you to him via the shed.
Of course i have thanked him to his face, and thank you seems such a pultry offering in return for what he has offered me. But im a man who finds it hard to express myself in the spoken word, finding it better in my writting. In return for this selfless act of passing on a sporting gift of permission, i would like to again offer my help around the shoot as and when it is needed, hoping i will in the near future be able to put something back into the sporting lives of those who have greatly improved my sport.
So, to the the gentleman who offered his hand in a gesture of the true sportsman that i now know he is, i would like to truly thank you and hope that i can soon show you my gratitude by helping to put something back into your sport.
kindest of regards and many thanks
