we never get mackeral to catch of the suffolk beachs, but they got some real nice catches last year in herring nets only a couple of hundred yards of shore near lowestoft , the water is allways to cloudy for spinning for them but they do catch them off the north norfolk beachs, used to love fishing for them off abotsbury in dorset you south coast boys have all the best beachs and variety of different  fish

hey its not that good! the euro fleet have raped it bare! i can remember 25 years ago catching more mackerel than i could carry, cod EVERY session in the winter, now its rare to find a casual angler who has had any cod for years from the beach.ratman had some cod during the winter from his yaught but not long ago they would have been all over 15lb! the trawlers are to blame in my oppinion,7 years ago there was an inshore ban on mackerel and the mrs and i caught over 200 in an hour the water was thick with them at weymouth harbour too! also fish the bristol channel and you catch plenty of fish and lots of cod,i believe this is because the trawlers cant be bothered to go that far rount lands end and all the way up the channel to catcha few fish.
