GOOD Morning all, out for my usual, stroll with the pup,, on my rounds the first field, the pup is hunting well, hunting with speed and energy,
hot scents, but nothing lying, out, a couple of small runs, to the hedge, and, then I wander over to this potato field, all the field was sprayed about 2/3 weeks back all the potato shaws is all but gone, and the acid they use has totally, evaporated, and dispersed, right he is hunting well up and down the rows, like the clappers, the next thing I hear is a squeal,
a 3/4 grown rabbit, he is messing around with it, I am calling good boy Fetch it, after about a couple of minutes, he decides to bring it to me, but again only about 10yards of me and he loves to hang on to it, but surprising, the rabbit is still alive, ((( half and half,, but he is not hard mouthed, a bit a bad bruising, about the rib cage but he is only a pup, on to the next field a Barley stubble, field, with rows of straw still to be baled,, the pup is about 30yards of me to the right I see some thing that I do not want my pup to see, I call him up a couple low whistles and through my breath good boy, up he comes, I slip the collar and lead back on to his neck,, to the left of me about 200 yards 2 black tip rabbit, sorry he is not man enough for them yet, but slightly over from there, about 4 rows of straw, over is 2 fox cubs, In all my days I have never seen this before,2
black tip rabbit, 2FOX cubs, with in twenty yards of each other, and I am standing
with my pup, No I wont chance it on the fox cub, those little fellows can also bite back, Now I wonder how many lads would have held back from the cubs???? never mind the black tip rabbit,, those boys could have run him ragged,

yes a good mooch around, I love the early, mornings, good dew on the ground and the pup learning to hunt properly with the use of his nose, when a dog learns to hunt properly, and he has gears and a good strike,, you can keep all your gaze hounds, a hunting lurcher is very important to me, there is very little stuff that gets away from them,, but this pup has a very long way to go yet,in another 12 months time this dog should be shaping into a good dog,(( its only time,
fossil
good on you, it takes nerves of steel to resist them , but your right 12 months time he'll be strong enough to deal with anything that gets up in front of him
confused
looks like you are on track towards having a "good yin" well done it's great to hear someone who has a bit of what is often lacking, that commodity that money cant buy - common sense, well done.
border lad
thanks all,, for confused,, the pup is my favourite x
3/4 grey 1/4 collie, beardie, they need time to develop mentally, and in physical status, and when there about 2 + they are on your wave length, a snap of your fingers brings them up to attention, and you can guide him on with hand signals, put your hand up to stay, (( but it takes time, when you do arrive to that point, they are a pleasure and comfort to work with, and most rewarding,
