Tonights Challange....Right tonight I have abit of a challange... not 110% of the internet community are happy with me I don't think
Allways literally since birth I have had a very open minded attitude to food allsorts of food I've tried quite a few weird and wounderful things in my massive 34 years here on planet hell 
Tonight I am actually going to try "Balut".... Richie works with a lovely lady from the Philippines, who was really intrested hearing all about the stuff I've cooked up and chucked up so very kindly... she asked Rich yesterday if I would like the pleasure of something she's ordered from a friend of her's apparently it's a really hard to come by "delicacy" here and like a TOTAL plonker... I've agreed to try it
I thought I'd watch an instructional video on how to eat it... I'm not convinced I'm gonna hold this "Baby" down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgjIrtCBpdA Well it arrives tonight, not 100% on this but will post photographs either way later (if I havent got my head down the bog that is!)

Well I've done it and yep this was certainly fresh
Piccy's below warning though if your a vegetarian beware !
Cracking the Balut open. 
Taking the membrane off the balut. 
Add a small amount of salt... 
And drink the "Soup" 
Release the duck... 
Gollop down! 
Look Duck! 
All in all it was an OK experiance, the "soup" is quite actually VERY tasty the Balut is not offensive in any way apart from a slight "bdooly" taste. I would eat it again no problem in fact even Richie tried a bit 
One more culinary experiance offa my list wot next ????

Seriously I have virtually NO foody problems I did yak after jelly fish though! I do have to admit
The things I don't eat are Egg Yolks (I know I just did one but thats diffrent )
Milk Raw Bacon Fat (done rind before and ok) Other than that I would try probably any food expept for Sea Slug raw, reminds me to much of Jelly Fish 
The Balut seriously to be honist was ok, the "Soup" was stunning if you could get that in a bottle it would be a multi million pound concern! It would beat the crap outta fish sauce! Me thinks I need a Duck Farm

Hmm, don't think that I'd do the manky duckling unless I was really starving. I've done eyeballs, brains and various other organs in various states of cooked and rawness whilst overseas. Fortunately most of these scenarios were out of the blue, so had no time to think about it. Having accidently broken stuck eggs and VERY nearly chundering, I would have to be desparate to try Balut.
