ferret kits hobs and jills albino and fitch coloured well handled and bred from working stock. a few quid to go towards the cost of rearing them would be appreciated. but good working homes more important then money. cheers
I need a couple....cant get to you for a couple of weeks though.
If you sell them in the meantime no worries but if you have any left in two weeks time I'll have a couple of jills. Nice docile, tame ones!!! _________________

I was reading this and thought "how many times have i asked are they tame ? well handled ? " only to find a couple of days later that one was latched on to my bdooly finger . ,i always got the same answer "they never bit me !" the reason they never bit before was that they never got the chance !!!
P.S. Fitch mate, i'm not saying that your kit's have'nt been handled ,i was just thinking back to my" university of life degree"
I wasn't suggesting they weren't well handled but I must have gone to the same school as Confused...!!!!
I dont mind too much if they are a bit nippy, as long as I know. At least you can anticipate it coming!!!
I took a mate to collect a couple of polecat kits once. The advert read 'well handled and friendly pets'. They were really pretty little poleys so we thought we'd have a couple. I was assured they were handled every day so I bent down to pick one up. I offered the back of my fist to one and it struck like a bdooly cobra.
The woman looked at me as though I was mad and asked 'dont you wear gloves when you pick them up?'
She put on this huge, thick leather gauntlet and grabbed this poor ferret. Obviosly it bit into the glove and hung on for dear life. Her expert words were 'Thats why you need gloves!'
We did come away with one each. My mate couldnt do anything with his and we had to despatch it and mine, well, I was always a bit uneasy around it. Always went trough the routine of testing before I'd pick him up. I worked him a couple of times, but never used him at stud because he was so volatile.
I gave him away in the end to someone who used to go ratting.
Anyway. Sorry to hijack your thread with anecdotes........As soon as I have the time I'll check that still have a couple.
Good luck with finding them homes... _________________
All kits will bite even they re well handled ones, my big ones don t bite me but they ll bite other people.
Kits tend to associate everything that goes by their mouth as food and is only natural and as well, like babies teething.
Mine were well handled when I got my recent ones but as a stranger to them they still latched on.
They are not handled as much now but only tend to grab ur hand in play but do not hurt any more, they have learnt quickly.
I do not wear gloves and they say, if ur going to handle a ferret always make sure u ve washed ur hands if u ve had rubber gloves on otherwise they will bite hard, something they like about the smell of rubber, so make sure u wash ur hands well.
Tara.
