How then do you get the hooks out.............or am i just stupid
a tip i was given many years ago about setting snares was to get a handfull of grass and rub all over the snare to get rid of any human scent good luck

one better than this is light a fire with wood ,and leave any wire to be used in the hot embers it gets rid of any scent ,just remember to use gloves when making and seting snairs other wise it will all be for nothing. or make them first and then put them in the embers.

another way for phesants that will give you a good laugh as well is plastic or paper cups ,put one in a hole in the ground just slightly bigger than the cup put some glue around the inside of the cup then put some corn in the cup ,the phesant will get its feathers stuck to the cup and the cup stuck on its head cant see where it is going you can find them easy and just pick them up ,done this years ago with a lot of cups near a phesant pen just to let a keeper know that if i got any stick rabbiting i could soon turn to phesants he laughed about it as well .
have heard of a few similar me granfer used to tell usfishing hooks on line tied to trees with corn or a raisin on the hook, when swallowd it would get em in the throat........ and cut out a cone shape from a semi-circle of card, and smear with honey in the inside and lead a trail of corn to it........ also make live catch trap from making a fence going round and round like swirl . covered of course ,and the pheasant would follow the trail of corn to the centre and then couldnt get out...
