The ashdown forest is heaving with fallow, i was working on a house there in the autumn and you could hear them bellowing in the rut. Lots of roe around there too and apparently munties although i've never seen them. i've always been a bit sceptical about trying the dogs without an experienced one to show them the way but maybe im being over cautious? All a bit acedemic now anyway as Tyla is out of action for the next few months. :(
There's no Sika in the Ashdown. There are lots of Rangers and concerned residents though. Good runs can be had, on the heath, where the A22 runs through but you've got to watch the road though. _________________ How is the bow better than the gun? Ask General Custer!
Never heard of sika there either. You are right about the number of people too, its pretty empty very early mornings in the summer though. Never tried my dogs on them anyway, maybe when my bitch is fit again .....
i was full time on the fallow in my area for over 30 years ,with my muts nothing else ever interested me when it comes to working a lurcher , i have had the odd double figure nights, i only used to run the bunnys to get the dog fit for a week or 2 ,all preban of course i would not dream of braking the laws of this land now .but i to am still finding a lot of fallow hit by vehicles ,most in the middle of big fields [i put it down to drunken farmers messing about in their tractors]
if any of you guys are from kent or east sussex, i would love to tag along, see people who actually no how to do it.
the border of south wales ,me ,but if ever you are in my neck of the woods your welcome to stay for a day or 2 ,and i will show you the fields im on about where these drunk farmers are driving around .
