spotted a big Victoria plum tree in a garden yesterday,so my self and the 2 older boys knocked on the door to see if we could have some,so up the path we went, knocked, waited, nocked again.once we were cirtain there was no one in i sent the boys up the tree,we managed 13lb of plums befor we were rumbled by a goose and a jack russel,so off we scarperd only pausing the other side of the 5 bar gate to catty the dog and goose!
Any how this evening i made 22lb of fine victoria plum jam!! hot work, but easier than plucking that fkn bird! does plum go with goose?? _________________
So far we have apple and blackberry, blackberry, greengage, wild plum, black cherry (picked from some trees by the road at Exeter) wild damson and apple chutney from our own apple tree. oh yeah redcurrant as well forgot that one.
I love jam making and I have my grans preserve pan it has rusty handles now but what a fantastic pot it is I'll post a pic of it up soon.
fish, goose with plum sauce is very nice you lucky sod
Dunno about that fish I just googled cooking dog and the french were at it quite a lot in the 1800's it is described as beef like wth pinkish flesh when cooked.
So what was bigger the goose or the jacky as you may have missed out on a good meal there, and it would have been easier to prepare. pmsl
