Besides the stainless steel soap bar, you can use a mixture of a fair amount of salt with liquid soap and rubbing it on your hands. leave it for a minute or two and rinse it off.

Takes away most of the smell of guts, fish etc.

Cheers,

RB

Hi All, OK last but one rabbit I tried Fossils trick with the tomato sauce - it works great ! It really improved on the normal soap routine but with a slight side effect of having hands smelling slightly of tomato sauce ! Well you can't have it all I thought. Tonight I went for a walk with the catty and had another rabbit, this time I tried RB's method of salt and washing up liquid and again it really works very well. I still have to try the stainless steel soap but until then the salt + washing up liquid it is !!

works on garlic, onions , anything fish

Yep - I got one for removing the smell of fish when I was doing a lot of reservoir fly fishing.  I took one look at it and thought "Bo11ox! That'll never work!" but it's now my first line of attack for anything smelly.

BEWARE: while it takes away the smells of most things and does make your hands clean, one thing it DOESN'T do is remove chilli - wear gloves when chopping chillies or wear gloves when taking a wizz after chopping chillies - no need to ask me how I know!  It was a scotch bonnet chilli, so not exactly a 'calm one'.

Washing your hands in cold water rather than hot will help stop the smell from being absorbed into the skin. The tomato sauce trick is useful when used on the dog after it has rolled in something really nasty!
