Thanks for the heads-up on the rollers and pully idea, Jörg.  I have gone for the longer 'barrel', just for now, and I will make a test rig for the pulley/roller idea, soon.  I am still going to look in to a way of adjusting the pull length, as I often shoot indoors and it can get a little hairy shooting anything at anywhere near full pull!!!  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the inspiration you gave me  on the pouch release; other ideas are most welcome!!!

Jörg is right that mechanical stress will shorten band life - using larger wheels and not compounding angles too much would ease that somewhat.

Jörg, rollers is exactly what I meant by pulleys - we might have a translation issue there ;)

Ok, for me a pulley is a setup that uses rollers to make it easier to lift heavy objects, for the price of a longer pull.

I realizenow  that you can also use that term for a single roller.

My fault!

Your English is so good it's hard sometimes to remember it's not your first language!

Nobody's fault Jörg - just another of those linguistic differences that keep us all interesting ;)

I am thinking of mounting the pulleys horizontally, as in this example!
Anybody got any thoughts on this arrangement?
