I remember catching sparrows under a tattie basket ,prior to the grain harvest, the theory was that if we reduced the numbers enough in the grain store that they would'nt eat as much wheat! well that was fine but there were hundreds/thousands maybe ? anyway the old gaffer used to pay us a halfenny each, i think it was to keep us out of mischief ,and we thought he was great, we would catch about 10/12sparrows and spend the rest of the day doing odd jobs for free, another "kill" was feral pigeons caught the same way and used for feeding the same mans ferrets, no money for them though ,only the promise of a trip ferreting . all good fun and it taught us the basics of trapping,(i think!)
mine was a sparrow with a bsa 177 then my dad got me a 410 single barrel bolt . I can remember getting 2 doves with 1 shot the old man called me a jemmy git as earlyer he had a go at a groop of bunnys and missed everyone of them with his over and under 12 _________________ Preserve nature, pickle a squirrel

Showing my age now.
Asi paratrooper took the first rabbit, BSA supersport .177 took the next kill, a cock pheasant, then history kept going and I've been killin em with air power and shoty ever since.
Take a look at these links for what airpower can do.
Think mine was a greenfinch when a was 12 with an airgun, but started going out with shotguns with my uncle at 13 and got a pheasant with a 20bore. Still got the pic up at ma mum in dads. _________________ IF IT MOVES AND ITS EDABLE, KILL IT
first ever kill was when i was 7, was walking the dog in the local field in the village and the dog caught a bunny......luckily my grandad had took me out poaching beforehand but being on my own i was really nervous so just grabbed a stick and thwacked the poor thing over the head....got home and my mother seemed happy i bought food home.
Ever since then i was always down the river. By 12 i had a SAS survival guide and was setting every trap i could with good success. Many injuries too
Then it came to air rifles, the bows i made as a kid turned into proper bows which actually worked, never did catch owt with the bow mind. Everything sort of spiraled out of control really. i now have more hunting gear than home luxuries, to me lasses annoyance.
