been on my narrowboat for the last 4 months whilst on the macclesfield canal and peak forest canal put my trap out baited with cat food......wallah...





they tasted amazing.
met up with Frankie and his lovely wife Diane a week later, their hospitality was second to none they stocked our provisions with eels, duck eggs, potatoes, onions and runner beans, later that night met up with them and their friends and had a great evening....cheers Frankie....what a lovely guy.....mack

they do look very good i am guessing you never had time to purge them and just removed the nasty bits

sounds like a very idyllic way to spend a few months

I wish we had crayfish, but only in canals and they did not spread to lochs or rivers.  They'd be fun ot catch.

Hi M&B Glad you had a good day, nothing quite like properly smoked eels eh! we call the beans runner beans unless their old and stringy.
Still not managed to get back for the Crays, but am currently on crutches for a sprained ankle, cant even get to the eels at the moment. I mentioned our day together in another thread "Curing bacon"

crays are the biggest con going people will pay you to net em out and yet the ammount some people are willing to pay for them

only bigger con is the thai prawns which are actually farmed in malaysia then flown to thailand, stamped  product of thailand and because they have that stamp they get near on double the price
