when I was young mutton was a fave pie ingredient now you never hear of it asked our local butcher a couple weeks ago he says no one ever wants it had lamb tonight for tea but I really could have enjoyed a bit of mutton will see if any of the farms around here have some old beasts going for dog food might manage a swap for something cheers
Hey matey, there is an advert that pops up on here now and again, "HAND MADE MEAT" I had a look at the site last week, i'm almost positive you could get mutton from them.
mutton used to be cheap , not so now! by the way butchers call it hoggit.
Hi guys,
Hoggit should be a year old, Mutton older and lamb should be under a year, the lines are very much blurred these days all you can be certain off (if your lucky)is you are eating a Sheep!
one sure way of getting mutton is if you live near an Asian or Caribean comunity to add to the cunfusion they sell it as Goat!
sorry to dive right in on my first post this is a great forum! I couldnt resist
