Hi, i've just been given a hand made wooden bowl, but the woods never been treated with anything to seal it, i want to keep it as natural as possible , mabey use it as a fruit bowl so what would be the best to seal it with.
the person to ask would be, a guy named robin wood, he has a website that I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen......he might even be a member of this forum?? not sure I know he is on one of the forums i frequent....anyway he makes wooden bowls and spoons for a living so Im sure he is a wealth of knowledge on the subject...
I guess i would have to say before you stain it you need to decide whether its ever going to be used for food or not, fruit probably will not matter but anything else I dont know. _________________ "Speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far" Theodore Roosevelt,
Thanks guy's , i would hate to spoil this by tainting any fruit that was going to sit it, my first thoughts were boiled linseed , but the danish seems sound i've used both on walking sticks , and the danish appears to dry in lighter.
butcher block oil is best if it is going to be used for food. leaves a nice natural finish and is NON-TOXIC. if you can't get butcher block oil, use a thin coat of vegetable oil.
